Lady in Boston
From a town that time forgot
To a city across the Atlantic
From where clouds gathered a lot
To a city that remains gigantic
I went to the city of Boston
To ease a soul feeling rotten
Early in the chill air of Spring
I walked across the city park
I heard the buskers sing
And returned to a hotel after dark
I once had dinner at a restaurant
I saw this blonde lady at a table
With her friends, they were a happy lot
But to greet her, I felt unable
I clowned, made jokes with the waiter
To conceal an inner sadness, a pain
But she saw through my happy banter
And later in that week I saw her again
She had that look of concern
And she seemed to say something
But things took a wrong turn
From her lips I heard nothing
I never saw her again
